Your Investment is Making An Impact
The Boys & Girls Club of Central Carolina is making a difference in the lives of youth and giving back to the community. In 2021, we served 895 children, 605 were club members and 290 were reached through community outreach programs.
Of 2021 club members:
- 22% were teen members
- 58% were children from single-parent households
- 70% qualified for free or reduced school lunch
- 87% said they could stand up for what is right
- 94% said there are many things they can do well
- 97% expected to graduate from high school
- 95% reported earning mostly As, Bs, and Cs on their report cards
- 85% expect to complete post-secondary education
- 83% of 11th and 12th grades reported participating in workforce development programs
Additionally, in 2021, the Boys & Girl Club of Central Carolina provided:
- 11,250 meals during the school year
- 16,231 meals during the summer
- 1,347 Academic Success programs
- 1,078 Healthy Lifestyle programs
- 225 Good Character & Citizenship programs
- 217 Summer Learning Loss Mitigation programs including the Write Brain Books program
- 42 days (average) of summer programming
Club Members Making A Difference

Kimberly Ascensio
Youth Development Professional
Kimberly Ascensio started as a club member in 2016 and became a Junior Staff staff member in 2019. After turning 18 this April, she became an official Youth Development Professional. A leader in the O.T. Sloan Club’s Education room, Kimberly serves as a role model while assisting club members. She achieved the Gold level certification on her ACTS WorkKeys NCRC assessment and will graduate with her Associate’s Degree in May.
