The Boys & Girls Club of Central Carolina is making a difference in the lives of youth and giving back to the community. In 2023, we served over 1,100 children across Harnett, Lee, and Chatham North Carolina Counties.
Club Members Making A Difference
Kimberly Ascensio
Youth Development Professional
Kimberly Ascensio started as a club member in 2016 and became a Junior Staff staff member in 2019. After turning 18 this April, she became an official Youth Development Professional. A leader in the O.T. Sloan Club’s Education room, Kimberly serves as a role model while assisting club members. She achieved the Gold level certification on her ACTS WorkKeys NCRC assessment and will graduate with her Associate’s Degree in May.
Davion Quinones
Youth of the Year, 2024
Davion is a member of our Sanford, NC club and was named, “Youth of the Year” at the BGCCC gala in February of 2024. During the gala, in the round robin discussion, Davion and the other candidates shared that mental health is a very important issue with teens today. He opened up to the crowd and shared, “parents, check on your kids!”
Davion will continue on to compete in the statewide Boys & Girls Club competition in April of 2024.
Izaiah Gittens
Junior Youth of the Year
Izaiah Gittens was named Junior Youth of the Year at the BGCCC gala in February. Izaiah is in the 8th grade and is a club member at our Lillington, NC club.
