FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
May 3, 2025
Sanford, NC – Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Carolina (BGCCC) is proud to announce the promotion of Jaslyn Walker to Director of Workforce Development. In this newly elevated position, Walker will oversee the development and execution of BGCCC’s workforce readiness programming for teens, while also leading professional development initiatives for Club staff.
Walker’s dual focus on teen employability and staff career pathways is a key component of BGCCC’s broader strategic direction to strengthen internal talent, improve program quality, and increase impact across its service areas. In her new role, she will guide strategic partnerships, lead training and leadership development, and help build systems that support economic mobility and organizational growth.
“Jaslyn has been a driving force in connecting our youth to real-world opportunities and helping them envision a future full of possibility,” said Dr. Fallon Brewington, Chief Executive Officer of BGCCC. “Her leadership, passion, and deep understanding of our communities make her the ideal person to take this important work to the next level. She embodies the kind of bold, values-driven leadership we are committed to building across our organization.”
Walker joined BGCCC in 2013 and has held several roles supporting program delivery, teen engagement, and Club operations. Her close relationships with local teens, families, and school systems—along with her lived experience as a former Club member—bring a unique and powerful perspective to the organization’s leadership team.
“Transitioning from YouthForce to Director of Workforce Development has been an inspiring journey—for both me and the staff at the Clubs. In this role, I’m able to continue working with our youth to prepare them for workforce readiness, while also supporting the professional development of our staff. From being a Club kid to now serving as a professional within the organization, this experience has been both joyous and humbling. This is not just a job for me—it’s a mission to build Great Futures for our youth, inspired by the same Club that once inspired me as a child.”
As BGCCC continues to build organizational strength from within, Walker’s promotion signals a deep commitment to growing and retaining talent. She will lead initiatives to create staff training programs, enhance teen employability skills, establish leadership pathways, and expand the Club’s footprint in workforce development throughout Central Carolina.
“We’re incredibly proud to recognize Jaslyn’s leadership with this well-earned promotion,” said Kyle Shipp, BGCCC Board President. “Her vision and energy have already made a significant difference in the lives of so many young people. The Board is confident that, in this new role, she will continue driving lasting impact for our teens, our staff, and the communities we serve.”
Walker’s promotion follows the recent appointment of Mary Murphy, CPA, as BGCCC’s first Chief Financial Officer, and is part of a broader leadership alignment under Dr. Brewington aimed at strengthening infrastructure, deepening community partnerships, and expanding high-quality programming across all Clubs.
