Dr. Fallon McIver Brewington

Chief Executive Officer

Dr. Fallon McIver Brewington, “Dr. B”, is an accomplished leader with extensive experience in workforce development, non-profit management, and higher education. As the Chief Executive Officer of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Carolina, Dr. Brewington drives strategic initiatives to support youth development, expand community partnerships, and ensure organizational growth and sustainability. Prior to this, she served as CEO of the Boys & Girls Club of the Sandhills, where she provided leadership in goal-setting, policy development, and financial management while overseeing high-impact programs for youth and securing necessary resources for the organization’s operations. Dr. Brewington also served as Vice President of Workforce Development & Corporate Partnerships at Sandhills Community College, where she advanced experiential learning opportunities and strengthened regional workforce initiatives. She holds a Doctor of Education in Adult and Community College Education from North Carolina State University and is a Certified Professional in Talent Development (CPTD). Dr. Brewington is actively engaged in several local organizations, including serving on boards for Moore Habitat for Humanity and Sunrise Theater. Her professional journey reflects a deep commitment to education, leadership, and community service.

Mary Murphy, CPA

Chief Financial Officer

Mary’s passion for the Boys & Girls Clubs began during her college years in Tampa, Florida, where she worked as a Program Leader for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Tampa Bay. She earned a Master of Accountancy from the University of South Florida and subsequently obtained her CPA license.  Mary started her career in public accounting, conducting audits for private, public, and nonprofit organizations. She then advanced into various financial roles across multiple industries, including serving as a Senior Accountant within a hospital system and as a Tax Expert for a national corporation. Despite her diverse professional experiences, her commitment to the mission of the Boys & Girls Club remained strong. From 2021 to 2022, she served as Chief Financial Officer for the Boys & Girls Club of the Sandhills.  Mary is thrilled to be part of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Carolina team. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, spending time with her children, and traveling to the beach.

Tori Gatewood

Director of Resource Development & Marketing

Tori Gatewood is an accomplished marketing and development strategist with extensive experience in nonprofit fundraising, brand development, and community engagement. As the Director of Resource Development & Marketing for Boys & Girls Club of Central Carolina, she leads initiatives to enhance donor engagement, expand fundraising opportunities, and elevate the organization’s visibility. Before joining BGCCC, Tori led marketing, communications, and fundraising event efforts at Boys & Girls Club of the Sandhills, helping to achieve a record-breaking fundraising year in 2024 through data-driven donor engagement strategies. She previously held leadership roles at Churchill Downs Incorporated, where she directed marketing efforts for the Historical Horse Racing division and the Kentucky Derby, contributing to record financial growth and national visibility. With nearly two decades of experience spanning corporate and nonprofit sectors, Tori specializes in strategic planning, campaign development, and community partnerships. She is a Graduate of the University of Louisville, where she is a Delta Zeta alumna. She currently serves on the board of Friend To Friend of Moore County. Tori is committed to building strong relationships and innovative campaigns that connect supporters to the mission of BGCCC. When she’s not driving impact through marketing strategies, she enjoys watching her sons play basketball, spending time with her family, and her fur baby, Mila.

Dyan Lofgren

Executive Director, Lillington, NC Club

Dyan Lofgren started her career with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Carolina in
January of 2021. During that time, she worked as a Program Leader with our K-
2nd grade members and in 2022 was promoted to Club Executive Director. Dyan has played a major role in recruiting mentors and volunteers within the Harnett community and is responsible for the daily programming at the Club. Dyan is married and has two children. When she is not busy with Club
activities, you can find her cheering on her beloved Chicago Bears.

Traci Newby

Executive Director, Pittsboro, NC Club

Traci Newby joined Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Carolina since 2018 and is a Club alumnus. Born and raised in Chatham County, Traci is a product of the Chatham County School system and a 2019 graduate of Arizona State University, with a degree in Family & Human Development. He stands by the statement made by Rita Pierson that “Every child deserves a CHAMPION. An adult who will never give up on them, who understands the power of connection and insists that they become the best that they can possibly be,” and is dedicated to providing that to every club member.

Joy Roberts

Executive Director, Siler City, NC Club

Joy Roberts began working for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Carolina, in the Art and Education rooms, in October of 2016. Since then, she has worked on recruiting mentors and volunteers, managed daily programming and ensured national programs run each week. Joy is also responsible for chairing special events that take place in the club such as the annual Thanksgiving dinner and annual science fair, to name a few. She attends Christian Faith Ministries Church in Sanford, where she is a member of the adult flag team and is one of the leaders of the youth flag ministry.

Jaslyn Walker

Director, Workforce Development

Jaslyn Walker started her journey with the Boys & Girls Clubs in the spring of 2013. She has served in many areas including volunteer, membership manager, program leader, education director and club director, and has recently taken the role of YouthForce Director. Jaslyn’s focus is to help our youth achieve on-time grade promotion and graduation, secure local job and internship placements for club teens and help our teens explore post-secondary education and/or military service opportunities. Jaslyn has a master’s degree in biblical studies with a minor in Christian counseling. When she is not working she enjoys traveling, reading, and writing.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Carolina relies on strong leadership to ensure we fulfill our mission of enabling all young people—especially those who need us most—to reach their full potential. Our Board of Directors plays a vital role in providing governance, strategic direction, and financial oversight while serving as ambassadors of our mission in the community.

We are currently seeking engaged, passionate individuals—especially parents or guardians of current Club members—who are interested in joining our Board of Directors or serving on a committee. Your perspective as a Club parent is invaluable and helps ensure that our programs truly reflect the needs and voices of the families we serve.

Frequently Asked Questions About Serving on Our Board of Directors

What is the role of the Board of Directors?

Our Board of Directors provides governance, strategic direction, and financial oversight for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Carolina. Board members protect our mission, guide our long-term goals, and help ensure the financial sustainability of our organization.

Do I need prior experience to serve?

No prior board or nonprofit experience is required. Your perspective as a parent or community member is invaluable. If you care about the success of our Club members, your voice is welcome at the table.

What is the time commitment?

Board members are asked to:

  • Attend at least 75% of six scheduled Board meetings annually.
  • Actively serve on at least one committee.
  • Support major events such as our Annual Gala, Golf Tournament, or 5K Run.
  • Volunteer at least once per year at a Club to stay connected to our mission.

Is there a financial commitment?

Yes. As part of our fundraising efforts, Board members are expected to:

  • Make a personally meaningful gift to the Annual Campaign for Kids.
  • Participate in fundraising events by sponsoring or purchasing tickets.
  • Assist in donor stewardship and cultivation efforts.

Many employers offer matching gift programs, and we encourage members to take advantage of those opportunities.

How are new Board members selected?

Potential candidates are identified by our Board Development Committee and interviewed by leadership. If selected, the candidate is presented to the full Board for a vote. Our goal is to ensure new members align with our mission and complement the existing Board’s skills and perspectives.

What support will I receive as a new Board member?

New Board members receive an orientation, access to a detailed Board Commitment Plan, and mentorship from experienced members. We want every member to feel supported, informed, and empowered to make a difference.
